Queer Performance Art in Cambridge
Club Urania is a Cambridge-based queer arts initiative, founded in 2022. Originally hosted at Cambridge Junction, the event remains a collaboration between Wysing Arts Centre and a collective of artists, organisers, and activists: Celia Willoughby, Roeland van der Heiden, Farai Brandon Mbudaya, Guillotina, Fen Orr Ewing, and Eva Dema.
Founded by the queer community, for the queer community, Club Urania centres queer joy, radical self-expression, and experimentation. Our events embrace all things weird and wonderful, in all their forms. We are fundamentally a space for the queer community of Cambridge and beyond to feel seen and celebrated. Come as you are.
Over the years, Club Urania has welcomed a wide range of performers - writers, poets, dancers, pole performers, drag artists, DJs, musicians - from around the UK (and occasionally beyond) to Cambridge. Previous performers include: Wet Mess (2023); Harold Offeh (2023); Dairy King (2023); Lewis G. Burton (2024); Tink Flaherty (2024); Fatt Butcher (2024); Babeworld (2024); Juliet Jacques (2025); Rika Nakashima (2025); and Lynks (2026).
